Neat old hotel, felt as if we had traveled back in time 100 years. narrow halls and some paint peeling. I think maybe 10 more rooms at the most. it was hard to control the temp in the room. beds were comforable. TV, WIFI, no in the room coffee pot. Had a great dinner at Boeys next door. would stop again, I think. It is NOT your chain cookie cutter motel, nice change.

A small town bed and breakfast that was on our way out of Florida. It's worth the approximate 2-3 miles off the highway. Same price as your standard chains just off the highway so make the drive. We found it online and took the chance and weren't disappointed. Arrived about 30 minutes after reservation online and they were ready with a warm welcome. The room was a nice size, place was very clean, decorated with beautiful antiques. The staff was friendly, efficient, gracious and warm. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful with the same service. All in all more than you would hope for in a B & B.

DeFuniak Springs is my hometown so I'm very familiar with the area. Since my family relocated and our relatives' homes sometimes become too crowded to accommodate everyone for family gatherings, we have lived at the motels off I-10 when in the area. This time I'd decided to try something different and check out the Hotel DeFuniak. Let me tell you this bed & breakfast was a great choice. The Hotel DeFuniak was a welcome change from a typical hotel. It is super clean, quaint and well-decorated. Free Wi-Fi was available which allowed me to get some work done online and stay connected with my co-workers and friends. All of the staff are super friendly and helpful. If you get the chance, do say hello to the owners Pam and Tom, they will make you feel right at home. Oh yeah, the hotel has a great cafe and a hearty breakfast is included in the price of the room. My favorite is the french toast. Bogey's Restaurant is next door where they serve more great food and offer live music on Saturdays.

We love this place! We found it while passing through Defuniak Springs on a cross-country bicycle ride, and it is truly a gem. Originally, we thought the price was a little high, but it included a very nice breakfast for two, in addition to wonderfully friendly staff, a beautifully decorated room, and the opportunity to step back in time, even if only for a night. The adjoining restaurant, Bogey's, was completely fantastic, too. There is a lot of history and even some ghostly speculation about the Hotel Defuniak. I would encourage anyone brave enough to stay in Room 8 and find out for themselves if they think it is haunted. Be sure to take photos and check for any "unusual occurrences" in them. Other nearby things we enjoyed were walking around the lake (one of only two perfectly round lakes in the world, they claim), and checking out nearby antique and specialty shops. There are some really fun ones! I liked it so much that I brought my family for a second time on my way back home. We'd like to make it a family tradition, and you will, too!

Nothing else happening in Defuniak Springs to rave about, but this place is the bees knees. We loved staying here. While biking through the south we decided to stay here for two nights and for a rest day. What hospitality! Is this a hotel or someone's home?! The moment we walked in the door we were greeted like family and cared for until the moment we left. What a cozy place to lay my head at night. Also the breakfast in the morning is better than you will ever get in any other hotel. Pecan Banana waffles with sausage. Baller! Too bad the cafe was closed while we were there (they were gone fishing!) because it is supposed to be really good.

They Put De Fun in Defuniak Defuniak Springs is a pleasant small town in the panhandle of Florida. Most traffic bypasses the town on I-10 and most people probably stay in the chain hotels near the highway exit. The Hotel Defuniak is an old-timey hotel run by some very friendly people. It is so much nicer to stay where people have a real stake in making things right for the customer and providing a special, individual experience. Hotel Defuniak does just that. The rooms are very comfortable and well outfitted and very clean. The sitting area in the lobby is welcoming. Each staff member we dealt with was professional and friendly. In the morning the owner prepared a large and very tasty cooked breakfast that is included in the price. If you want a feel of what Florida was like before it was criss-crossed with interstate highways and drivers flying by its small towns, stop in at the Hotel Defuniak.

I wanted to go here due to the haunted reputation this place has, but then again most things in the house are "haunted". But after arriving you couldn't just leave. This place is a great place to stay for an anniversary weekend, or just a getaway. It's quaint, and the staff is friendly. You'll fall in love, and there is quite a bit near by to do.

A charming holdover from a more elegant era. On our list as the place to stay when we're in this area. Wonderful staff.

A lovely, historic hotel off the beaten path. The owners have southern hospitality down to a science and were very accommodating when we were weary from travel and arrived early. We only stayed for a few hours to sleep and recharge on our way home but I will make it a point to come back someday. The bed was the most comfortable bed ever and the antiques are impressive!

I am a huge fan of old movies and gloriously written romance novels, and the Hotel DeFuniak is the perfect setting for both. This quaint B & B has a charming lobby filled with amazing period furniture, a small cafe for breakfast and guest rooms that are warmly decorated ...plus a very cute restaurant for dinner. The service is uber personal, but efficient. Tom and Pam make you feel as if you are a dear friend and Brian seamlessly keeps order of your accommodations, so your shoes, cosmetics and clothing are in order. It's not in the beaten path, but soooooooo worth the trip. Plus there's a fab golf course 8 miles away ;)

Don't miss the walk around the second roundest lake in the world. Priceless.

I stayed here while visiting my hometown for a family reunion over Memorial Day weekend. This place is as wonderful as all of the other reviews claim. It's quaint, charming, and clean, and the owners, Tom and Pam, are just absolutely fantastic. I can't wait to stay here again on my next visit. It's a real gem!

We dropped by this place on the way through Florida and I guarantee you that if we were ever close to passing by the area, we'd stop by again. The rooms are extremely well decorated and the town itself is cute as a button! Definitely spend a little time walking around De Funiak Springs before you leave. The hotel connected with a cafe (I think the owner of the hotel is the mother of the chef of the cafe). Breakfast is included and the food was quite good. All in all a wonderful stay and since we were there in the off season (winter) the price was just as good as those chain/roach motels on I-10. This place is well worth the 2 mile detour off the interstate!

I went up here for a quick getaway with my husband and was really pleased to find this place. It's a great bed and breakfast where they're super friendly but they don't hover over you as well. The breakfasts were super yummy and they accommodated my diabetes quite well. We brought our bikes up with us to ride around the loop and toured the little library in town. The springs aren't too far but they are cold. There isn't much to do there but it's nice to be able to relax in the peace and quiet. We enjoyed it so much that we'd definitely come up again to visit.

Classical historic charm pervade this thoroughly delightful B & B. Comfortable and warm surroundings are embellished by the helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast (included in the price of the room) was delicious. We would almost plan our next trip around the opportunity to stay again.

Cute B&B! Lobby is really pretty. The room was lovely. Very small though. (think dorm). There was not any coffee, tea, waters, fruits, or snacks at all in the sitting room for the guests (as most B&B's offer that) plus nothing in the rooms to make coffee. The breakfast did not start until 8am, so for us early risers, no coffee!! No breakfast, as we waited as long as we could but finally had to get on the road. That part was a downer.
